Autumn Dotticure With Barry M Polishes

Happy Monday everyone! I have some super simple, yet oh so seasonally appropriate nail art for you today. I used a couple untrieds for this mani- Barry M Watermelon and Chili- that my mom brought back from London for me earlier this year. I asked her to get me some Barry M but didn't tell her which colors and those were the two she chose. They're not in my usual taste as colors go, but I really liked them once I tried them on! They go together so well too.

31DC2014 Day 11: Spiraling Dots

For the "polka dot" prompt I wasn't feeling very inspired. Polka dots, specifically, seem more restrictive and kinda boring. I think it should be changed to just plain "dots" because it really opens up the possibilities. I think that's what everyone is doing anyway. I tried to think back to a dot design that I liked, and I remembered the dot spiral I did in this mani  here.

OMD2 Challenge Day 18- Dotticure

Happy Friday everyone! How's your week been? Mine has been pretty darn great. My husband got a new job and we're both stoked about it. He should be much happier there. I've been having a great week here at Nail Polish Society too. I'm loving the guest posts (here and here) and I have another one for you tomorrow! Today I have a simple and sweet dotticure for the Oh Mon Dieu Challenge. I haven't been able to keep up with it every day because of my blogiversary celebration, but I'm joining in when I can. 

Pumpkin Polka Dot

Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow! I never used to get excited about this particular holiday. This year I have been anticipating it more than usual. I think it's the fact that I do most of the cooking now, that I appreciate good food much more. I have been slowly expanding my stomach in preparation of the holiday. I'm ready now to stuff my face.. bring it on!

In celebration, I have a fun pumpkin (or punkin, depending on where you're from) polka dot mani. I was originally planning on doing a tutorial for this one. Unfortunately I had a senior moment and forgot to take the necessary photos to make said tutorial. Whoops. Will you take a rain check?

Here's what I did:
1. I began with two coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff.
2. Then with my large dotting tool I made a polka dot pattern using Sephora by OPI Paisley Attention to Me.
3.With my pointed dotting tool I added the stems to the dots on my accent nail, magically transforming them into pumpkins.
4.I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite top coat.

33 Day Challenge Day 01: Dots

Am I crazy? I must be, because I am starting another challenge before the 31 Day Challenge is over! This is the 33 Day Challenge (that's right, two days longer!) being run by the Crumpet Nail Tarts. So in my insanity, I decided to join in the fun. Why is it longer than a month? Well, it is running Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 11 weeks.

Inspired by my post from the Challenge's polka dot day, my lovely sister shared one of her own. She came up with a cute domino design, which inspired me to copy her for today's dot prompt. The circle of life!

I started off with two (or three? crap, I'm losing my mind) coats of white polish for my base color. For the black lines I used my large striping brush. Then I added all the dots with my dotting tool. I'm so glad today's prompt inspired something relatively easy. I honestly couldn't handle something more complicated right now. I am trying to complete three posts today!

Luckily it's not that easy to tell, but the top coat did transfer some of the dots' color. So around the dots the white is faintly saturated with their color.

31DC2013 Day 16: Tribal Print

I could not nail down a decision on what design to do for the tribal print prompt. It kind of bothered me all weekend. It wasn't until I googled "Aboriginal art" that I found what I wanted to do. I found so many beautiful images of dot artwork, and I knew I had to try it. Then after a couple more hours of decision making and hesitation on the colors and design, I finally got to work. Here's what I came up with!

To start I applied two coats of Zoya Flynn. After letting it dry for a few minutes I applied a top coat. I'm sure I didn't need to, but I wanted to make sure it was smooth before I started with the design.

I started with my little lizard (isn't he cute?) in the middle and then worked my way out. I continued the dot pattern on the neighboring nails. Then on the thumb and pinky I used the same order with the colors, but with concentric circles. I used a long striper brush to make the lizard. For the dots I used the pointy shaped dotting tool from my nail art brush set.

I was just about to post this when I realized something was missing. I almost forgot that I wanted to see how this looked in a matte finish. So I quickly applied some China Glaze Matte Magic, took the photos, and added one to the post. I considered replacing all the ones I had ready with the matte ones, but then I couldn't decide. And it would be that much more work. Which do you like better?

31DC2013 Day 11: Polka Dots

So I'm going to be lame today and not have much to say about these polka dots. I started with a base color of China Glaze For Audrey. Then I added some dots with my dotting tool. Basically I couldn't decide on a design, so I did every nail different. The End.

This was my first time using my For Audrey polish. I loved how opaque and smooth it applied in just one coat! I still did two to make it a little smoother looking.

I'm sure I will have more to say about tomorrow's mani. I'm just so busy and stressed, and all I want to do is take a nap! Who is for nap-time being a national institution? Me! Me!

Tutti Fruitti Polka Dots

This is the first full-out manicure utilizing my dotting tools. They arrived in the mail from Amazon a few weeks ago, and I have been intending to do one of these ever since. In all honesty, I waited this long to do one because I don't like dots as much as I do other designs. It was good though to try it and see if I could do it. More practice will do me good. Anyhow, I think the colors are really cute together.

Compared to my right hand, this one turned out much better. I did the dots on my ring finger last, but forgot that when I put my top coat on. I was going to wait a few more minutes so that it wouldn't smudge. The second I put the brush to my nail I realized my mistake, but there was no going back. I know, the drama I face with nail polish. I bear it all so well. Fortunately, it wasn't that disastrous. 

I think this is the only thing I own with polka dots.
