33 Day Challenge Day 23: Geometric

You may or may have not noticed that I've been shirking my 33 Day Challenge posts. I assure you that I haven't abandoned it completely. I just needed a break and wanted to do my giveaway, Halloween nails, birthday, etc. I would like to complete the ones I missed, but I'm not guaranteeing it. So to get back in the game I am joining in on today's current prompt- geometric.

You can see the diamonds sparkle a little better when it's slightly out of focus.

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but I don't know about that. I mean, I couldn't say because I don't have any. Chocolate, on the other, I'm sure about. Sorry to my human best friend, but chocolate is always by my side.

What I used:
Wet n' Wild Fergie Blue Eyed Soul- blue
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls- white
Sephora by OPI Meet Me at the Disco- holo glitter
Seche Vite top coat

31DC2013 Day 07: Black and White Nails

I got this in just under the wire! It's been a crazy busy day. Crazy busy awesomeness that is!! I spent some more time at Salt Lake Comic Con today. My sister came with me and we walked around getting our pictures taken, and also hung out at my husband's booth there. Afterwards he and I went on a date and saw James Taylor perform with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! A seriously wonderful day that I will remember for a long time! Now about my nails..

Thinking about the black and white theme, I knew I wanted to do animal print. I thought about making it easy and doing polar bears with maybe just their noses showing. Heh heh. I'm sure there will be LOTS of animal prints today and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's interpretations. I wanted to see what kind of mix I could get and I really am proud of the result!

Did you ever read the Ranger Rick magazine when you were little? I'm sure National Geographic Kids and others have this too. They would always have those macro pictures on the back cover, and it was a game to guess what they were. It wasn't my original intent, but looking at my nails now, that is all I can think of.

So can you guess what they all are? If you want to know just highlight the answers below.

Thumb- cow
Index- penguin
Middle- zebra
Ring- skunk
Pinky- leopard (the others are more realistic, I took a few liberties here.)

What I used:
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls- white
Sephora by OPI What's a Tire Jack?- black
Sephora by OPI Hi Def- orange
Ulta Cream of the Crop- yellow

I wanted to edit the photos a little, but I don't have time!

Happy 10th (Wedding) Anniversary to Me!

I did a simple little mani to celebrate my 10th! wedding anniversary. I wanted it to look kind of wedding-ish, so I chose a pretty white and added some gold on top.

What I used:
OPI At First Sight- pearly white
Sephora by OPI Wild About Shimmer- gold/pinkish shimmer
DS OPI Ruby- red
OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts- grey

I can never hear the phrase "happy anniversary" without getting the song from the movie,"So I Married an Axe Murderer" stuck in my head. If you're not familiar with this hilarious movie, there's a scene where they sing the phrase over and over to the tune of William Tell Overture. It's ridiculous and I love it. I always sing it to other people and then can't get it out of my head!

Yay for us!

My Yacht Is Yar

I loved this look even more than I thought I would! White nails have always made me think of junior high when kids used to paint their nails with Wite-Out. Now I love the crisp clean look. It makes me want to wear white linen pants. In reality I have a rule against white pants. I'm too messy and I know I would just end up with chocolate on my butt.

I began with two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Once that was completely dry I used striping tape to mask off the nail,  and then painted the space with OPI Dating a Royal.

The next day I tried it with a matte top coat and I think I like it even more. Unfortunately some of the blue smeared, but I'm wondering if that's because I didn't put a top coat over the blue.

I have the feeling I will be sporting the white nails again in the near-ish future.

Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue

The holiday is past, but I still wanted to post this mani. I had fun trying some things new to me. I love this red and was happy for the excuse to use it. It's the perfect summertime red. I thought the dots turned out fairly well.

On my right hand I was going for fireworks but it looks kind of blobby. It stood out even more to me when I was watching fireworks and realized how much it didn't look like that! Oh well. I like the glitter coat over it. It was good to practice doing more art with my left hand.

What I have on:
Red Hot Ayers Rock OPI (red creme)
Dating a Royal OPI (blue creme)
My Boyfriend Scales Walls OPI (dull white creme)
Stars at Night Nicole by OPI (glitter topper)
