I can't believe I'm posting this a whole day late! My schedule has not gone as planned this week because I have been beyond exhausted. Trying to get a baby sleeping in her own crib is no joke! So finally I have this week's ABC Challenge post ready to share, and I am super excited about this one. As a reminder if you haven't seen my previous Challenge posts, I am doing ASL alphabet poses for each letter. Today for the letter "G" I went with glitzy and glowing...
Glitter! I even did a gradient with the glitter. I was originally going to do this look for "D" as my accent nail is supposed to represent dragon scales. I did a similar glitter placement scales technique for my mermaid nails a couple years back. My glitter supplies didn't come in time for the letter D, but I knew it would fit today's prompt just fine.
I knew I couldn't spend too much time on this mani, as much as I wanted it to be super elaborate. I rushed as much as I could and got this done in just over an hour. For my accent nail I started off with a base of red polish, in case there were gaps between the glitter. Then I added a coat of ASP Light Less Gel over it so I could have a layer that stayed tacky for a long time. I ended up needing to apply it a few times, but it was still better than a regular polish as far a how quickly it dried. Then I added the glitter in layers using a wax pencil to pick them up. I did a gradient of three different glitter colors too. I didn't do a top coat over the glitter, because that would make it look messy. So it wasn't a wearable look, but totally worth it for the photos!
For the polish on my other nails I layered two polishes- Celestial Cosmetics Dracarys underneath, then Pahlish Combustible Lemon II on top.
What I used:
Celestial Cosmetics Dracarys- red holo (under the orange)
Pahlish Combustible Lemon II- orange jelly
ASP Light Less Gel
Sparkly Shop holo diamond glitter
wax pencil
What do you think? Does this look like dragon scales? Maybe someday I'll try it again on all four nails.. If you're participating in the ABC Challenge don't forget to use #nailpolishsocietyabc on social media! All the info can be found in this post.
