Monochrome Sunbursts and Floral

Howdy everyone! How is life treating you this fine day? I am still trying to get over waking up from a cruel dream I had last night. I was dreaming that I was nail polish shopping, and there were rows and rows of Essie and OPI bottles on clearance. Just as I my basket was getting full of delicious goodies that I've wanted for so long, I woke up. Then came the sad moment of realization that it was all a dream. *sob*. Should I be admitting that I'm so obsessed that this is what my literal dreams are made of? Don't worry. The day I am visited by the Ghost of Nail Polish Past, Present, and Future, is the day I seek professional help.

My China Glaze Fairy Dust has been feeling neglected (I know because it told me so), and it was time to break it out again. I don't use it much because I like to use my Out The Door Northern Lights. But that's a top coat, and I wanted to have the holo sparkle sandwiched between the black and white.

I started with a base of black polish on each nail.

Then I applied one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust over that.

I stamped on the floral pattern with my MoYou London Pro Collection XL 14 stamping plate using Konad Special Polish in white. The white didn't appear as opaque as I hoped it would. So I used a dotting tool to apply thicker white dots in the middle of the flowers. That helped them stand out a little more.

For the sunbursts I cut narrow triangular strips of Scotch tape and placed them on the nail. I had to cut A LOT of tape to get enough pieces that weren't too wonky. I usually avoid doing designs like these because I really struggle with cutting tape! I painted in the spaces, over the tape, with white polish, then removed all the tape.

I finished with Seche Vite top coat.

What I used:
Wet n Wild Fastdry Ebony Hates Chris- black
China Glaze Fairy Dust- fine holographic glitter
Sinful Colors Snow Me White- for the sunbursts
Konad Special Polish in white
MoYou London Pro Collection XL 14 stamping plate

What do you think of the mani? I think the Fairy Dust looks so good here! Let me know what you think. Also, if you weren't quite sure if I was a crazy nail polish lady, I'm glad I confirmed that for you today. ;)

Take Luck!

  3. This is great! In spite of your struggling with cutting the tape, I'm super impressed with how it turned out! I could've sworn you had used a stamping plate. And I love that you have something to be so passionate about/obsessed with.
