My Bikini Is Not Quite So Teeny

Greetings! Random question today: How many of you lovely ladies feel the pressure to get ready for "bikini season"? I would say that in years past I have felt the pressure and the anxiety in the months leading up to summer, to whip myself into shape. I've at least put some effort into it, like eating a salad or two. This year I just feel like, "What's the point?" It's not so much about giving up, because I still like to be in shape. The fact of the matter is that I'm currently out of shape, and although I have plans (somewhere in the future) to rectify that, I'm not too concerned right now.

Having birthed two children, I have felt a certain amount of liberation regarding my body. I don't have to care as much if it is this size or that size. I am learning that I don't have to be "perfect". My aspirations at the pool are to have fun, not to have people checking me out or being jealous of me. That's the goal anyway. I'm still working on it, but I feel the less I nit-pick about my own body, the more I appreciate others' beauty.

I know, like I said, it was a little random. But you know how it is when one thought leads to another. As I was thinking about this mani and the polish name, all I could think was,"With all the junk in my trunk, my bikini is NOT so teeny." Actually, I wear tankinis, but that didn't fit the name as well. One last thing before I get to the nails. Word doesn't like the spelling of tankinis, and instead the spell-check suggests Pakistanis and Tajikistan. LOL!

I started with a base of Essie Bikini So Teeny, then a coat of Out The Door Northern Lights topcoat. I wore that for a couple days enjoying the gorgeous sparkles.

Then on my thumb and pinky, I stamped with my new Konad Special Polish Sky Pearl. This is my third Konad polish, in addition to my black and white. I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in this one. I expected it to be a little more opaque with the roses on my thumb, but maybe it was just the stamp I used.

On my other three nails I stamped with a no-name love, charlotte xo by Color Club polish. I finished with a coat of Seche Vite topcoat.

What I used:
Essie Bikini So Teeny- periwinkle blue
Out The Door topcoat Northern Lights- holographic glitter
love, charlotte xo by Color Club (purple)
Konad Special Polish Sky Pearl
Mo You London Fairytale Collection 04 stamping plate
Cici & Sisi Jumbo Series #1 04 stamping plate

I would love to hear your thoughts on the so-called "bikini season". A blogger on HelloGiggles expressed herself so well with similar sentiments in a post titled I'm Not Celebrating Bikini Season. All I can say is, Hear! Hear!

  1. Lovely manicure .. and I m totally with you on your thoughts about bikini fit body lol. We all need to be fit but sometimes fit doesn't mean that perfect figure we all have our body structure and should respect and accept that ..right? So just have fun

  2. Wonderful design and I agree on each word you said, it matters to have fun at a pool not how you look!
