Hello lovelies! This month I'm simplifying things a bit and combining all of my Polish Pick Up posts into one. I have three gorgeous polishes to show you that were designed for this May's PPU theme, "90's Pop Culture". It's been fun seeing all the nostalgia inspired shades being created over at the PPU Facebook group. If you want to see what all the participating brands are offering each month and get the chance to vote on themes, you definitely should join in the fun!
Painted Polish "Sucker for a Slayer" is a vampy, oxblood holo with silver holographic galaxy glitters and a rainbow of shifting chrome flakies. If you can't tell by the name, this polish was inspired by the tv show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". I enjoyed the movie that inspired the series but never got into the show itself. I certainly can appreciate this gorgeous polish though! Shown is two coats plus top coat.
KBShimmer "un-Staple" is a deepened blue, leaning slate jelly base with micro holo flakes and red copper shimmer. The inspiration comes from one of my favorite 90's movies "Office Space", specifically Milton and his stapler. The shimmer is really strong and looks beautiful against the darkened base. Applying two coats looks good, but three looks the best. Shown is three coats plus top coat.
Colores de Carol "Give Me A Sign" is a bright red linear holographic with a hint of pink, with holo dust, Aurora shimmer, and UCC flakes (violet/pink/gold). As the name implies, Carolina was inspired by the album cover ".. Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears. Not to be a negative Nancy here, but I've also never been a fan of Britney. I have no problem though enjoying this shade for what it is and it's really quite lovely! Most of the flakes are on the smaller size but I did end up with one large gold flake as you can see. Two coats covered just fine but I tried out three for the photos. Shown with top coat.
- KBShimmer un-Staple will retail for $10 and have no cap.
- Colores de Carol Give Me A Sign will be $11.50, capped at 300.
- Painted Polish Sucker for a Slayer will retail for $12.50.
These can be purchased for a limited time through the Polish Pick Up website April 4th-7th.
