Royally Pink and Gold

Happy Friday everyone! Some exciting news for me- Nail Polish Society is finally on Instagram! I'm still working on uploading photos and such. It's been a while since I've got my hot pink on. I know there are some pink haters out there, and I think they are cray cray. Well, not really. I can understand pink aversion.  When I was younger I thought pink was gross and didn't own anything in that color. I was probably almost 20 when I finally tried it on and realized how good it looked on me! Being blonde hair and blue eyed, it compliments my coloring really well. I even had half magenta hair for a while. An unexpected side effect of it was that every time I was in public, little girls would walk straight up to me as if drawn by some invisible power they couldn't resist, and fawn over the pink. Sooo cute! I wanted to keep my hair that color forever for that reason alone.

On top of the pink I applied the champagne gold shade on all my nails with a striper brush. For the crown-looking shapes I made short lines, and then with a shorter detail brush made the lines angled until they connected. For a little more shimmer and bling, I added some China Glaze I'm Not Lion over those shapes.

I tried all sorts of different lighting to takes these photos, trying to capture the true effect. The one at the top is the only that shows that little bit of holo glitter. I always struggle photographing metallic and glitter polish. Hopefully you get the idea though.

With my framed nails I made sure to wrap the tips (paint the edge of the nail) with the gold polish, so that in case of shrinkage after topcoat, no pink would be peeking out.

China Glaze I'm Not Lion- gold, silver, and holographic glitter
Seche Vite topcoat


Do you love hot pink too? Hate it? Ambivalent? I love to wear it on my lips too, it helps bring out the blue in my eyes. Are there any hot pink lip colors that are a favorite of yours?
